Support Rosa Morillo: Help Rebuild After Tragedy
We’re partnering with Makicuna Coffee to support Rosa Morillo, a skilled coffee producer from northern Ecuador, who has been a valued collaborator with us for over four years. Recently, Rosa and her husband faced a devastating eviction from the land they cared for and cultivated for over five years. Tragically, their new coffee crop, which was on the verge of its first harvest, was destroyed in the wake of this eviction. The loss is immense, as the trees, heavy with ripening cherries, represented three years of hard work.
Rosa is now working to rebuild her life and farm. While she owns another piece of land where she grows coffee, it lacks basic infrastructure, including a house and electricity.
This fundraiser aims to assist Rosa in rebuilding her home, providing essential resources, and supporting her financially during this challenging time. Here’s how your contributions will make a difference:
-
House Construction: We are funding the construction of a new home on Rosa’s land. The building process is already underway to ensure Rosa and her husband, Olger, have a place to live and work.
-
Generator Purchase: With no access to the electricity grid, a generator is crucial for powering their farm and home until power lines are extended to the area.
-
Daily Living Expenses: The loss of their previous harvest has severely impacted Rosa and Olger’s income. Donations will help cover their essential living expenses as they work to recover and stabilize.
Your support will provide crucial assistance during this difficult time, helping Rosa and Olger regain their footing and continue their coffee-growing journey. Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
